The Dempsey family's roots in the insurance claims industry stretch back to the 1970s, but it was in 1994 that Steve Dempsey officially opened Dempsey Appraisal Service. Steve quickly earned a reputation for honesty, hard work, and expertise, leading to immediate success. His career began at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, moving on to Commercial Union (later Atlanta Casualty Insurance), where he further cemented his name as a straightforward, humble, and diligent professional. For over 45 years, Steve was on the road, starting his day before 5 AM. With his employer's blessing, he began moonlighting as an independent appraiser, skillfully balancing two careers and family life. At 40, Steve bravely launched his own company, operating Dempsey Appraisal Service, Inc. from 1994 until his retirement in 2012. Steve passed away in January 2014, but his legacy of integrity continues to inspire, with our company still receiving heartfelt calls about the kind of man he was.

In the same year Dempsey Appraisal opened, Steve's eldest son, David, joined the team. As a hands-on leader, David rapidly expanded his knowledge and skills in auto damage appraisal. A devoted husband and father of four, he dedicated years to coaching his children's soccer teams. David spent a decade as an auto damage appraiser before transitioning into a management role within the company. He became a partial owner in 2007 and, by 2015, was a co-owner with his brother. An active partner, David has inspected over 10,000 vehicles for repair and total loss, including commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and property damage. His extensive knowledge of the repair process makes him a vital asset to the company and a respected expert in the field.

Jonathan, Steve's younger son, joined Dempsey Appraisal in 2003. He initially managed the company for several years before moving into the field to become an auto damage appraiser, broadening his expertise. Shortly thereafter, Jonathan chose to specialize in diminished value appraisals to further diversify the company's services. He has personally appraised thousands of vehicles for repair, total loss, and diminished value, and has successfully negotiated countless first and third-party claims, consistently maximizing his clients' returns. Jonathan, like his family, believes in community involvement, coaching his son Harrison in soccer, football, and basketball. Our family values giving back and instilling strong principles in the next generation, always striving for the greater good.
